Benjamin Joshua Ong - Assistant Professor of Law, Singapore Management University
Benjamin Joshua Ong is an Assistant Professor of Law at Singapore Management University, where he teaches Constitutional and Administrative Law and Business Law. He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (Jurisprudence) (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford, and has been called to the Singapore Bar. He was awarded the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent (START) Early Career Award from the Ministry of Education in 2017. His research focuses on constitutional law and administrative law in Singapore and other Commonwealth jurisdictions. His work has been published in journals such as the Statute Law Review, the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal, and the Singapore Academy of Law Journal. His most recent publications cover topics such as ouster clauses, the regulation of Town Councils, and severability in constitutional review. Currently, he is researching various issues in constitutional law and administrative law, such as locus standi; ouster of judicial review; judicial review of executive action on substantive grounds; and how the law considers religious identities.
