Session 5: SMEs: Moving from Secret Struggle to Sustainable Success

Session 5 will focus on SMEs given the pivotal role they play in Singapore:

1. SMEs – companies with an annual turnover of less than $100m and who employ less than 200 workers
2. SMEs contribute close to 50% of Singapore’s GDP
3. SMEs employ approximately 65% of Singapore’s labour force
4. SMEs constitute more than 95% of all enterprises in Singapore

The objective is to hear from the ground on what SMEs struggle with as well as forward looking ideas on how to futureproof businesses. The discussion should explore how SMEs can do more than merely seek to survive covid-19 but use this crisis to revamp themselves so as to emerge well positioned to be relevant and successful in the long term.
